It is the only church dedicated to the aforementioned Saints Cyril and Juliet in the Metropolis of Petra and Hersonissos and the second in the prefecture of Lasithi It is built in a beautiful ravine.
Saints Cyril and Juliet is one of the oldest churches in Choumeriakos, probably a work of the 16th century. It was a small church with miraculous frescoes that were destroyed during the Turkish occupation when some pious Christians wanted to enlarge the church and destroyed the interior decoration. Inside the sanctuary the angel part of the composition of the Platytera is preserved Also, a piece of the fresco of Saints Cyril and Juliet was found when they redeveloped the enclosure and is in the temple On the floor of the temple there are graves a strange custom of the Homeric people to bury their dead inside the temples<\/p>
