Cultural Association of Choumeriakos
When the collective will, effort and action is transformed into projects
The Cultural Association of Choumeriakos was founded on the 1st of May 1979, by villagers who were interested in contributing their time and resources selflessly, to improve and promote their village.
The aim of the association is the spiritual and general cultural development of its members and the general inhabitants of Choumeriakos.
Among other things, in order to achieve the aims of the association, lectures may be organized, with the screening of films and other artistic
events, educational excursions may be conducted, libraries may be created, and any effort aimed at the intellectual and economic development of Choumeriakos may be supported.
Moreover, the association may promote local products, may implement public works, such as (but not limited to) the restoration of buildings for public use, the restoration and maintenance of cultural and rural heritage monuments, the creation of museums, exhibitions and collections, as well as the improvement and marking of paths.

Following the General Assembly of the Association, on the 11th of August 2024, the new seven-member Board of Directors, three substitutes and the three-member Audit Committee were elected.

Powers
of the members of the Board of Directors
According to the articles of association dated 1 May 1979, as amended.
President
The president of the board of directors a) represents the association before the courts and all state authorities in general in all its relations and disputes, b) convenes, presides and directs the meetings of the board of directors and the general assemblies, c) gives the floor to those who request it in order and removes it from those who are diverted, d) declares the beginning and end of the discussions and meetings of the board of directors and the general assemblies, e) puts matters to the vote, f) may adjourn or dissolve any meeting or session which is noisy and threatens to cause friction and conflict, g)executes the decisions of the Board and of the General Meetings and h) signs with the Secretary-General, all documents and payment orders and the minutes of the Board and of the General Meetings.
Vice President
The Vice-President shall substitute the President whenever the latter is absent or prevented from attending in all matters and powers.
Secretary
The general secretary a) manages the office, b) keeps the records and the seal of the association, c) keeps the accounting books of the administration, as well as d) the register of members. e) He shall submit to the Board of Directors every quarter a detailed list of members in arrears with their dues, f) shall draw up and sign with the President the minutes of meetings, payment orders and all documents of the association and shall g) draw up with the President the agenda of each meeting.
Treasurer
Τhe treasurer a) collects the monthly contributions of the members and the total income of the association by means of duplicate receipts bearing the stamp of the association and the signature of the collector. The Treasurer shall b) make each payment, based on warrants, after approval of each expenditure, by the Board of Directors, signed by the President, Secretary General and stamped with the seal of the corporation. The Treasurer shall c) keep the cash book and shall keep all receipts of payment. At the beginning of each month he shall d) submit to the Board of Directors a summary statement of income and expenditure for the previous month and e) at the end of the year, a report on the management and assets of the association.
Members
The member may replace the Secretary-General whenever the latter is absent or indisposed, by decision of the President.
Audit Committee
The Audit Committee a) controls and supervises the management of the Board and the treasury. b) It checks whether they comply with the provisions of the law, the statutes and the resolutions of the General Assembly. c) It has the right to examine the documents and books of the association and to request at any time the display of the contents of the treasury. d) It prepares a report on the management of the Board and keeps a book of minutes and resolutions.
