Saint Panteleimon
Description
The Church of St. Panteleimon is located on the provincial road to Agios Nikolaos one kilometer around Chumeriaco.
The church was a monastery until 1538 when the monks, in order to be safer, moved and reoccupied the monastery of the Monastery of Kremasta due to raids by pirates.
The church was built in the 15th century and is a large monocle and has a tiled roof with a double roof.
Characteristic of the temple is the carved marble pediment of the door of the temple located on the west side of the church.
Renovation
The church was renovated at the beginning of the century by the Cretan State at the expense of the parishioners of Chumeriakos and became the temple’s tepee where there are emphatic icons of the Theotokos and the Lord’s work of George Nicolaides 1903 and the icon of the Saint who is martyring Him Also on the right side next to the tepee is the icon of St. John the Merciful’.The icons of the tepee have been painted with the parishioners of the parish of Chumeriakos at the expense of the parish as it is written.
The second renovation of the church took place in the 1970s with the expenses of the parish of Chumeriakos and under the priesthood of the blessed Pope John Daceris.
